Being an avid user of Nokia phones for years, i’ve finally switched to the Blackberry for a change. Why? Let just say that I admire one of the most important part of the Blackberry, the push e-mail. Okay I’m a sucker for receiving e-mails. I don’t know why and please don’t ask me. And let’s face it, a Blackberry without e-mails and social networking capabilities are worse than a Sony E. Yeah I ‘ve said it. To be honest, if I can get things for free, i’ll choose an iPhone any day. I love beautiful interfaces for a start, and iPhone UI are spot on. But I never get the chance to own one, how unfortunate.
Don't get me wrong, I still love my E71. Actually, I miss her!
My last Nokia was E71. Yes, it is a great phone for e-mails too, but there is no specific internet packages offered here on the E71 like the Blackberry’s BIS. So, at the end of the day, I'd turn to my trustee Wi-Fi, which won't be available once I’m out and about. Apart from my needs for e-mailing, Blackberry Messenger is a big plus. The ability to send instant messages, manage several conversations at a time and chat with a group, intrigues me. The down side? I’m new with my Blackberry, and I don’t have that many people to chat with. Bummer.
The transition was not that difficult, because the Blackberry’s UI was real easy to adapt, and i’ve spent my learning time using a QWERTY keyboard on my E71, so it’s not a problem to get used to. What I find kind of frustrating was that I can’t open pdf files out of the box. I often see myself reading pdf magazines and books all the time on my E71, having to purchase other applications to the job was not what I have in mind. One more thing, as you can see, my Blackberry was the cheapest BB around, hell it’s cheaper than my E71, and not having a GPS was a real let down. There is Blackberry Maps, or Google Maps that I can use, but nothing beats having a built-in GPS.
All in all, I’m still happy with my Blackberry. Even it’s kind of a step down, I’m still gonna rock my inexpensive Blackberry. Maybe i’ll be Bold one day, or my all time favourite, that is the iPhone.
